This project began in 1991, created by Colonel Surin Chonprasert ,the Director of Department of Agriculture when he was theDirector of Cooperate Community of Thailand and Mr.Bancherd Somwang from the cooperative in Petchaburi. They were cooperated with Mr.Hiroyuki Yamamoto, ex-president of the Toto Cooperative who considered that the member of Toto Cooperative need to eat Hom Thong Banana with non-toxicity by import only Hom Thong Banana which is Gros Michele type to diliver to Toto members in Japan.This project was supported by teacher Dara Puangsuwan when he was the Director of Plant Pathology and Microbiology Division of Agriculture Department of Thailand and his team consists of teacher Prawat Tanboonake and teacher Kiat Lilasethakul. There were the temperature controls through all transportation until reached the destination. This made Thayang Cooperative was succeed in exportation Hom Thong Banana to Toto members in Japan since February 22,1992. First period export for 6 tons per month then they arranged to sign contract for buying and selling and continued the contract year by year including more order. Nowadays, Thayang Cooperative can deliver Hom Thong Banana with non-toxicity to Toto Cooperative for 4 times a month and for 15 tons per each which is totally 60 tons per month.
The Objective
- To support the members in Hom Thong Bananas Market in bargaining.
- To help the members generating income while improving their living.
- To improve the cost of Hom Thong Bananas in the domestic market.
- To increase profitability and balancing of the trade.
- To promote and enhance the presence of agricultural products of Thailand in other countries
